Do you want to learn how to become a writing superstar? Are you interested in mystery and spooky genres?

On Monday May 4th from 3:00-4:00 at St Andrews on the Square author Joel Sutherland will be available to share his knowledge and craft in celebration of Canada Book Week. This would be of interest to Gr 4+ students and adults. In addition to this event Joel will be presenting at a number of Kamloops/Thompson schools and public libraries from May 4-8th.

Joel’s first book for Scholastic was Be a Writing Superstar, which features writing tips and interviews with many of Canada’s most well-known authors and illustrators. Joel returned to his preoccupation with all things spooky in Haunted Canada 4, part of the popular Scholastic series. As research for the book, Joel voluntarily checked in to the Olde Angel Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake in the hopes of determining if the rumours of ghost appearances had any basis in truth. Watch a video of his ordeal on YouTube to see how he fared! Joel is currently working on Haunted Canada 5 and a YA horror novel.

TD Canadian Children’s Book Week will take place from Saturday, May 2 to Saturday, May 9, 2015. Twenty-nine English-speaking authors, illustrators and storytellers will be visiting schools, libraries, bookstores and community centres in every province and territory across the country.
