Thanks to the Kamloops Blazers along with the RCMP for visiting our school today to teach our Grade 6 students aboout Project EDGE (Educate Develop Grow Excel). This program was created to educate and help students develop skills for make healthy lifestyle choices as it relates to drugs and alcohol, goal setting and addressing learning standards from the British Columbia Physical and Health Education curriculum.
Since 2006-2007, a group of Blazers players and members of the Kamloops RCMP visit Vancouver at the beginning of the hockey season. The players attend a presentation on drugs and drug addiction, tour Vancouver Harbour and the Downtown East Side. The Blazers interact directly with drug dealers and users and learn firsthand the importance of making smart life choices early on.
